Both .cd and .cdi files can be found as somewhat older disk image files and as such can be opened with programs like ISOBuster.

It should be possible to convert one to another (i.e. cd to cdi conversion), but perhaps wiser course of action would be to use ISO or another standard disc image formats for compatibility reasons.
