This is used to transfer the designs to a CAD format that can be for example edited, refined and prepared for 3D printing. Support for DXF format in embroidery tools is somewhat rare, so such export is usually done through SVG exchange format.

Files with jef extension are used for the default embroidery file format in Janome sewing and stitching machines. It is one of the many industrial embroidery formats and widely supported by other software, such as Embird.
