We have found one software suitable in our database for this conversion.
The only mdf to xml conversion that perhaps makes sense, is export of database content between Microsoft SQL database and standard MXL format. This is probably used for small database and their migration or export of particular content from the database.
Simple exports/reports should be doable with pretty much any database migration tools. But for larger data conversions you might need dedicated database converter.
