Check out some options how pln files might be converted to dxf format.
pln to dxf conversion is mostly sought by users that would like to export ArchiCAD files (.pln) to common DXF graphics. Unfortunately, no 3rd party program will help you here and the only option is ArchiCAD. The 30 days trial version should sufficient for the purposes of pln conversion.
It seems that ArchiCAD does not support DXF format (unless this changes in newer versions) and only offers export to DWG. This means you would have to convert dwg to dxf using some other CAD tool.
Note: Export to DWG format in ArchiCAD may not be perfect and some elements exclusive to PLN format might not be exported properly.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed software record in the database for this conversion.

Files with pln extension can be found as solo project files from ArchiCAD CAD drawing software.
Files with pln file extension may also be found as plugins for Adobe InDesign, a desktop publishing software.

DXF
Files with dxf extension can be typically found as 2D CAD drawings saved in the Drawing Exchange Format, a common format for exchange of engineering drawings.
Files with dxf extension were associated with Micrografx Picture Publisher. Now this project is discontinued.
