It is perhaps possible to use AI graphics in 3D modeling tool and turn the vectors to something that can be printed on 3D printer, but to directly do the opposite is unlikely.
The typical workaround is to use some tool that can produce 2D DXF version of the STL file (stl to dxf conversion) and import that .dxf file to Illustrator and save the vectors there to AI format.
