Both .wpt and .ast files are document templates from Corel WordPerfect, so perhaps wpt to ast conversion represents just export or resaving between these two files. Perhaps between different versions of Corel WordPerfect, but in any case, this is the software you have to use if you want to achieve this export. We have not found any mentions or issues of such export on the Internet, so if you really have some problem with these files, it would be perhaps wise to contact Corel support.
