File type: Archive and compressed file
A .cpct file is an archive created by Compact Pro, a file compression and archiving utility for Apple Macintosh computers.
It can contain one or more files stored in Compact Pro's compressed archive format.
File type category:
Archive and compressed file

Compact Pro was a legacy Macintosh utility used to combine files into archives and reduce their storage size. A CPCT archive stores the archived files together with the information Compact Pro needs to extract them.
The format belongs to Compact Pro and is associated with Apple macOS and Mac OS X versions of the software. It is primarily of historical interest and is no longer a common archive format.
Because CPCT files are specific to Compact Pro, current general-purpose archive tools may not recognize them. The original application, or a compatible legacy Macintosh environment, is normally required to access older archives.
Open the .cpct file with Compact Pro on a compatible Apple Macintosh or Mac OS X system. In Compact Pro, use its archive-opening or extraction command to view and extract the contents.
Compact Pro is legacy software and may not run directly on current macOS releases. If necessary, use an older compatible Mac or a suitable Classic Mac OS environment.
CPCT is an archive format rather than a document format, so it is normally extracted instead of converted. Open the archive with Compact Pro and extract its contents.
After extraction, the files can be recompressed into a current archive format with an appropriate modern archiving tool. A direct CPCT-to-another-archive conversion may not be available without first extracting the files.
