Apple iPhone Cydia application installation package

File type category:
Archive and compressed file

Date updated: April 3, 2019

The deb file extension is associated with the Cydia. Cydia is an alternative to official App Store in iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Cydia works only on iOS devices that have the Jailbreak.

iPhone Jailbreak (iOS Jailbreak) is process that removes official limitations on iOS devices. One of these limitations is installation of new applications only via Apple App Store.

Cydia uses own application repositories, which contain both types of applications free and pay. Applications in Cydia repositories are not stored as an ipa application file that uses App Store, but in DEB packages. DEB application package uses similar file format as deb Debian package. DEB application package can be extracted in compression utility that supports DEB compression file format.

DEB application files can be also installed to the Jailbreak iPhone (or other JB iOs device) with Cydia via SSH Tunnel.

If you want to install DEB installation package SSH your iPhone. Go to /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall . Copy the .deb file there and that just reboot iOS device.
