The Electronic Fiction Manuscript format is used by EFM to store richly formatted documents. It was designed as an alternative to the widely used Rich Text Format.
An efm file contains the document and its formatting for use in EFM. It is a native document format for that application rather than a general-purpose text format.
EFM is associated with Apple macOS and Mac OS X systems.
Open an efm file with EFM on Apple macOS or Mac OS X. Use the application's Open command and select the file.
Because EFM is older software, a compatible version of the application may be required to open the file correctly.
Open the efm file in EFM and use its available export or Save As options to create a file in another document format.
