Autodesk Animator animation old format (Autodesk FLIC format), a format developed by Autodesk that is designed for storing brief animations.
FLI is limited to images 320 by 200 pixels and allows a palette of 256 colors (although the palette can be changed from line to line to give more colors per frame).
FLI is based on a fixed frame rate specified in "ticks per frame" (there are 70 ticks per second), and has an implicit 6:5 aspect ratio.
All FLI animations must loop, but in practice this requirement is often ignored. The image data in FLI files is compressed using a Run-length compression scheme. This is suitable for animations, but is inappropriate for videos or dithered images.

EmTeX is a TeX distribution and set of tools originally developed for DOS systems. Its font libraries allowed related font data to be kept together for use by TeX drivers and other EmTeX programs. A .fli file contains an EmTeX font library.
TeX works with the METAFONT language for describing fonts and with the Computer Modern typefaces. It was designed to make high-quality typesetting accessible with a reasonable amount of effort and to produce the same results on different computers, now and in the future.
EmTeX and the FLI format are legacy technology associated mainly with DOS-based TeX installations. Modern TeX distributions generally use other font-file arrangements, so FLI files are now encountered chiefly when maintaining older EmTeX documents or installations.
A .fli file is normally read by the EmTeX program that needs its font library, rather than opened as a standalone file. Keep it in the font-library location configured for the relevant EmTeX driver or typesetting installation.
Because EmTeX is legacy DOS software, a current operating system may require a suitable DOS environment or emulator to run the original tools. A text editor or general font viewer will not display the contents as a normal font.
There is usually no useful standalone conversion for an EmTeX .fli file. It is a runtime font library, not a document format. If the font data is needed in another format, use the original TeX or METAFONT sources, or separately available generated font files, with suitable font tools.
When rebuilding an old installation, the practical option is to regenerate the required fonts and library with the appropriate EmTeX and TeX tools rather than convert the FLI file directly.
