FinalBurn Alpha is an arcade emulator for Microsoft Windows. Its movie-capture feature records the inputs and related replay information from a game session in an FR file.
An FR file is intended to be played back by the emulator with the corresponding arcade game. Playback generally depends on using a compatible game, emulator build, and configuration, so the file is not a general-purpose movie that can be played by ordinary video software.
The format is specific to the legacy FB Alpha emulator and is primarily useful for replaying recorded gameplay. It does not normally provide a standalone video export in a standard format such as AVI or MP4.
Open the file in FB Alpha on Microsoft Windows. Start the emulator, select the movie playback or load-recording function, and choose the FR file.
The required arcade game must be available to FB Alpha, and playback may require the same or a compatible emulator version and settings used to create the recording.
FR files cannot normally be converted directly to a standard video format because they store emulator replay data rather than rendered video.
