Microsoft Money was personal finance software developed by Microsoft Corporation. It used m06 files to preserve financial data during file conversion.
When a user installed a newer version of Microsoft Money, the conversion process created numbered backup files containing unconverted data. The m06 file is one of these conversion backups. Microsoft Money ran on Microsoft Windows; Microsoft discontinued the product and ended its support in 2010, so this format is obsolete.
Use the Microsoft Money installation that created the file, or a compatible version of Microsoft Money for Windows, to restore or work with the backup. The file is a conversion backup rather than a normal standalone Money data file.
The m06 file is not intended as an interchange format and cannot normally be converted directly with a general-purpose converter. Open or restore it in a compatible version of Microsoft Money first.
After restoring the data, use Microsoft Money's available save or export functions to create a regular Money data file or export the financial information to a supported format.
