Shane's Chess Information Database (Scid) is chess database software for managing and analysing chess games. It is available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, OS X and Android.
The sn4 file stores name data used by the Scid database. It works as part of the database's supporting files rather than as an independently readable chess-game file.
Open the sn4 file with Shane's Chess Information Database (Scid) on Windows, Linux, OS X or Android. In normal use, open the associated Scid database from within the application rather than opening the name data file directly.
Keep the file with the other files belonging to the same Scid database. Moving or renaming it separately may prevent Scid from using the database's name data correctly.
The sn4 file is an internal Scid database file, so it does not normally have a useful standalone conversion. Scid can export the chess games in a database to formats such as PGN, but that export does not convert the name data itself.
To preserve the name data, use the database with Scid and keep its supporting files together.
