File type category:
Email related data file
Date updated: September 27, 2026
The .vrge08group file extension is associated with Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac. The file stores information about a group created in Entourage, such as a contact or mailing group.
Entourage used group data as part of its email and contact management features. This is application-specific data rather than a general-purpose document format.
The format was used on Apple Mac OS X and is now legacy technology. Microsoft discontinued Entourage in favor of Outlook for Mac, so current versions of Microsoft Office for Mac may not open this file directly.
Open a .vrge08group file with Microsoft Entourage 2008 on Mac OS X. If the file is part of an Entourage data set, open it from within Entourage or restore the associated data rather than opening it as a standalone document.
Entourage is no longer developed, and newer versions of Microsoft Office for Mac may not support this file directly.
If the file can be read by Entourage 2008, use Entourage's contact or group export features to move the relevant information to a format supported by another application.
