The CBR file extension is used for comic books archives. The .cbr files are basically renamed .RAR file and can be decompressed with any .RAR file utility. The CDisplay program displays the comic book images so it is useful to use for this particular .RAR archive type.

Compressed set of .JPEG, .PNG, or static .GIF images. Pages are automatically ordered and can be presented one or two at a time. File format used for displaying comic books or other collections of pages.

A file decompression utility may be able to decompress CBR files and extract the images, but they will not be displayed in a book format.

CBZ file can be open in CDisplay Comic Reader.
