It's not easy to convert PDF document to iBooks Author to save it as ebook, considering the app has been discontinued in 2022 and now is replaced by Pages. You can still work with iBooks Author if you have it installed though, so the best course of action would be to convert the PDF to a format that is accept in iBooks, for example ePub. But direct pdf to iba conversion is probably not possible.
