UMOD

The umod file extension is associated with the Unreal Tournament computer game. File contains Unreal Tournament MOD (UMOD installer or Unreal Module) installation.

UMOD installers (Unreal Modules) are the native format for Unreal engine's content distribution and automated installation. An UMOD installer is an uncompressed archive of files stored along with information about where those files are to be installed to and about necessary Unreal Engine INI file changes.

In Unreal Tournament is used file extension UMOD for Unreal Modules, in Unreal Tournament 2003 UT2MOD file extension and in Unreal Tournament 2004 UT4MOD file extension. UMOD, UT2MOD and UT4MOD are the same file format the only difference is file extension.

Unreal Module file extension is automatically associated with Unreal Tournament, UT2003, UT2004 after installation process. Unreal installation associates only file extensions, that are used by the current version of the Unreal Tournament.

Installation of the MOD is very simple only double click by mouse on the Unreal Module file. If there is a problem with MOD files association and system doesn't recognize the MOD file, you can use manual installation of the MOD file:

• Copy the MOD file (for example BallisticV21.umod) to an Unreal Tournament/System folder
• Run command line and go to the Unreal Tournament/System folder
• Type: setup.exe install BallisticV21.umod

and the Unreal installator will install your MOD file to the game.

The UMOD archive contains Unreal Tournament animations (UKX), Unreal audio files (UAX), Unreal Tournament static meshes (USX), Unreal Tournament cache files (UCL), Unreal application packs (U), Unreal texture files (UTX).

Unreal Module archive (UMOD file) can be open and extract in a simple utility, that is called UMOD Extractor.
