Exporting of 3ds Max ASCII scene files (.asc) to other 3D modeling formats, including PointCloud 3D data (.pts). Special 3D model converters might be of help here, considering the support for PTS format. seems to be a little limited. Perhaps a plugin is required for some software to add export capability to PTS format.

ASC
Files with asc extension can be usually found as ASCII 3D export from several 3D modeling tools from Autodesk. It's earlier interchange solution, but nowadays replaced by XML based formats.
PTS
Files with pts extension can generally be found as PointCloud 3D text files. Used by some 3D scanners and CAD programs.
