It doesn't seem there exist any reliable way how to convert Microsoft Word documents (.doc, .docx) as CorelDraw images (.cdr) or publications.
Although CorelDraw can import DOC/DOCX format with the default import function, in reality it will create image of the pasted document. Same goes for PDF documents imported to CorelDraw. A workaround would be to open both Microsoft Word and CorelDraw and copy + paste the text elements to create a CDR document.
You can always choose between importing as text or as vectors, but the result is probably not what you were looking for.
