Dozens of different exp file types exists, so it is very well possible that some of these are graphics files and can be exported as JPEG files, which is what exp to jpg conversion represents. Several .exp files are used for CAD files, so these might be exported as JPEGs for preview purposes as well.
But it's very hard to give particular advice, if we do not know which exact .exp file you want to explore, so it would be best to browse listed .exp files on our side and seek for software suitable for it.
