Convert Pages document to Microsoft Word document (prior version 2007).

We have found 3 software records in our database eligible for .pages to .doc file format conversion.

The most convenient way to convert text documents saved in .pages files to Microsoft Word document (.doc, .docx) format would be to use any of the Pages apps for macOS (OS X) or iOS.

On Windows, a viable alternative would be to install the latest version of LibreOffice suite that apparently supports some versions of iWorks documents. This may not always be perfect, and some formatting may be lost during the conversion process.

However, if you do not own Mac or iOS device with Pages (and have no friend that does), or you cannot open your .pages files in LibreOffice, there is still hope yet. You can rename .pages file extension to .zip ► unpack the archive ► find file preview.pdf file and open it in any PDF viewer.

The preview.pdf file stores preview of Pages document with text formatting and other settings. You can use Microsoft Word 2013 to edit, or Adobe Acrobat Reader view it to at least get sense on what's in the original document.

The tables with software actions are a good pointer for what a certain program does with various file types and often may give users a good hint how to perform certain file conversion, for example the above-mentioned pages to doc. However, it is not perfect and sometimes can show results which are not really usable because of how certain programs work with files and the possible conversion is thus actually not possible at all.

PAGES

A pages file extension is used for default document format of Pages, a word processor and page layout program from Apple. No other program can open the *.pages files, but Pages is able to export its documents to some other formats, such as PDF or Microsoft Word's *.docx.

DOC

A doc file extension is commonly used for text documents created in Microsoft Word word processor prior version 2003. Word's DOC documents can be opened in almost every (if not every) other word processor, such as OpenOffice.org Writer or iWork Pages.
