File extension ifo is associated with DVD information data files.

The ifo files give the media player important navigational information, like where a chapter starts, where a certain audio or subtitle stream is located, etc. This is the reason why it's only possible to rip certain parts of a movie (like a chapter) with a ripper which can read this files.

Also, ifo files are not encrypted.

The ifo file is always accompanied by a vro file, which contains the actual video data. This file type can be opened by most DVD players.

You can use any multimedia player, that supports DVD playback, such as Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, NERO to open the *.ifo files.

The *.ifo files contain only information about chapters, location of audio or location of subtitle stream. They do not contain the actual video data.

How to convert:
