Dink Smallwood is an action role-playing game available for Windows, macOS and mobile platforms. A .dmod file packages additional content for the game.
A D-Mod may contain maps, scripts, graphics, sounds and other resources used by a custom adventure or modification. The game loads the package separately from its original game data, allowing the add-on to add or alter game content.
The format is specific to Dink Smallwood and is intended for distributing playable add-ons rather than for exchanging data with other games.
Open a .dmod file with Dink Smallwood on a supported platform. Install or copy the file using the game's D-Mod or add-on facility, then select the installed add-on from the game.
A .dmod file is not normally opened as a document. If the game does not list it automatically, place it in the location used for D-Mods by that installation and restart the game.
A .dmod file normally cannot be meaningfully converted to another format. It is a game-specific package that must retain its D-Mod structure for Dink Smallwood to load it.
To create a different version of an add-on, its contents must be edited with tools compatible with Dink Smallwood and packaged again as a .dmod file. Individual resources may have their own editing or conversion options, but converting the complete add-on to a general-purpose format is not supported.
