File type specification:

E-book file type icon E-book file type

The imp file extension is related to IMP e-book format. This format is most notably supported in REB 1200 and eBookwise-1150 devices.

IMP format is predefined for a given device and is only intended for devices that have the same screen resolution and color content. It exists in several variants, each for specific device.

The imp file consists of a header, book properties, name of .RES directory, table of contents, and the contents of each file. Version 1 is created by Softbook Publisher 1.0. Version 2 is created by Softbook Publisher 1.5. The header is the same for both versions except for the value of the version field.

This imp file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
