File extension pmd is associated with Adobe PageMaker, a desktop publishing program for creating more complex and stylish documents.
PageMaker was one of the first desktop publishing applications developed by Aldus Corporation in 1985, initially for Apple Macintosh and later for Windows 1.0.
PageMaker relies on Adobe Systems' PostScript Page description language (PDL). In 1994, Adobe Systems acquired Aldus and PageMaker and branded them Adobe PageMaker.
The Pagemaker was discontinued in 2004, and its successor is Adobe InDesign.
InDesign CS6 and older versions are capable of opening pmd documents. However, the latest version of InDesign (InDesign CC) can't open old PageMaker files.
This pmd file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.
This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
